"But, they said that they can dramatically reduce the flow of illegal guns into their communities if the three suburbs are required to do such things as install surveillance cameras and train employees on how to stop straw purchasers who buy legally guns and provide them to criminals."
It would be more effective to finally train the Police Super in law enforcement techniques.

They may replace the Chicago superintendent with the Ace sheriff who let the seven-time, illegal alien felon free to murder a 32-year-old productive, self-responsible member of society in San Fransisco, you know, the ahole who had nothing bad to say about the murderer but ripped Donald Trump a second one.
Now you're just insulting Harry & Lloyd!

As an unrelated aside, I have little interest in movies but have an academic background in history.
Dumb and Dumber (referring to the movie and not any particular administration) co-star Jeff Daniels will always hold a special place for me because of his portrayal of one of this country's most remarkable figures, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, in the movie
Gettysburg.
Chamberlain's leadership and bravery at Little Round Top during the fighting at Gettysburg was instrumental in the overall Union victory.
I expect the lunacy of overreaction now pervading this country to continue. The movie will probably soon be banned and children taught that the Union actually fought invisible ghosts in July 1863, or fought amongst themselves, or that the Battle of Gettysburg (or entire Civil War) never happened. After all, we could never let Truth enter schoolrooms today and teach that over 50,000 brave men, some carrying Stars and Stripes and others flying Stars and Bars, but all of them Americans, were killed, wounded, or went missing in that battle.
When I heard that the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum caved to Big Brother and pulled Confederate flag merchandise, I knew Truth lost another home. Their action is an insult to both History and to Reality.

Agree completely St Jude. I'm sure no one here would ever support slavery, yet the notion that the civil war was only about slavery and nothing else, a notion that seems to be paraded as truth, is wrong. The fact that individual states decided they had had enough of a centralized federal government telling them what to do seems to be left out of the equation. The loss and erosion of history (or at least accurate history) is the first step in obtaining a compliant populace.
