At Regal 18 in Round Lake Beach for the last time. It is convenient since it's only a mile from the house. Just noticed the no gun sign.

I don't go out for movies very often any more, but most of them seem to be posted. Fish in a barrel...
Strange that the last person to open fire in a movie theatre drove past several closer theaters to find one that was "gun free"[/b]

That is what I said to the manager. I let her know, but it was a snotty kids that blew me off. I will complain to her district manager tomorrow.
I very seldom go to the movies. I just hate voting with my dollars to keep Hollywood going.
We stopped going to many movies over the last several years. Each one seemed to be worse than the last.
In fact the last 5 I went to in a theater was American Sniper.
And you will never hear me say I carried in Regal 18.

Mike, almost all of these mass shootings occur in gun free zones, Schools, Theaters, Churches, etc... What do all these locations have in common. They are 'Sitting Duck Zones, err Gun Free Zones'. The criminal and insane know the law abiding will be unarmed and easy targets. These never seem to happen in police stations, gun shops, donut shops, etc.
I'd say of all the theaters in the area, Regal 18 has been my choice. I noticed the no gun sign a few months ago, and figured they're probably all that way these day, although I haven't checked (I hate Gurnee Mills, for example for other reasons).
However, I usually went Tuesday nights, when attendance was low (not anti-people, but the fewer noise makers, the better). Now, they've lowered their prices and Tuesday nights area mad house. I probably will go less for just that reason.
I don't expect I'd be allowed to carry in any movie theater, at least in populated areas.

I'll keep you posted as I'm going to truly find out. I will call back and talk to the district manager.
I stopped going to the theater years ago. Last time I was at Regal, to see American Sniper, I could swear that their was no sign.

Kinda what I was saying to the wife.
Many other places claim to have the ability to do it too. Surprise is they are actually doing it.
My policy is, if I see a sign, I will not be their customer, with the exception of bars, banks, and government buildings which are required to be 'Sitting Duck Zones' because of our idiotic lawmakers that think criminals and the insane will obey these signs.
It is the ONLY way to get a business to change. And you have to let them know! When they cease making enough money to keep the doors open, they might get the message.
Yeah the only places that I make a habit of going to that have signs posted, like 308 said, are bars, banks government, ect that are required to anyway.
As far as the theater I was reading about that the other day and will not be going voluntarily!
Mike I look forward to seeing what you find out from calling them.. Seems to be a popular thing for them to do more and I don't like it..

Our only theater is not posted but they will never know that I am carrying. Either will Costco and I shop there all the time with my CC. I have only had one instance at a hardware store in Eugene called "Jerry's" and I sent them a nasty letter and got on the radio with Lars Larson to let him spread the word. The next time I was up there I stopped by to see if it was still posted and it wasn't.
I can legally carry in bars in West Virginia. That must be an Illinois thing. As far as going to a theater, I'm not going to one that searches you whether I'm armed or not.
I believe all theaters are GFZ due to them being an entertainment venue. Stupid Illinois law.
Never looked it up, but that sounds about right... Dangit Illinois..

The 18 plex in Deer Park doesn't have any signs.
