okay, i just read somewhere that open carry was allowed in Wisconsin, no permit needed........but to conceal i need a permit, obviously this in no is how awesome i picture it ( like a cowboy with my gun on my hip) lol but what do they mean by open carry?
My understanding is they never explicitly outlawed it. Not common and you can get SWATted

thats the answer i get online, not sure what that means...like its not illegal but i can still get arrested? or shot?
Problem is, not enough people do it. Therefore, when someone does, someone calls the police. What they do is bring both the complainer and the person that is considered to entice.
If I lived in WI, I'd try to get open carry days set up at different locations to get folks accustomed to it....just saying.
That's a good idea. It would probably raise quite the ruckus at first! Probably end up getting your own police escort. Haha
But, you start small and grow it for there. If you tell the police ahead of time, then they wouldn't even show up if called.

Not illegal but yes you may get cited or arrested depending on how you or the officer handle the situation. There are people who don't know the law and some who do and still call to cause trouble.
hmm..... i may have to test the waters with this one. I am very curious as to how it would be handled....other than making a wrongful arrest that will get eaten up if it even makes it to court what will they do? there are like 4 police in my town so if i carry it around town and tell the police ahead of time and give them the chance to debate.....maybe i am over thinking this but its not a loop hole it is clean cut Not illegal so i do not see where the problem is. good call mike i may have to gather some of the friends and figure out about making a day of it
Open carry just brings along so many issues I don't think it's ever worth it. The only time I would open carry is in the back woods of Alaska.
Open carrying an unobtrusive handgun on your hip should not only be normal, it should be done by every responsible adult.
Normalizing this might be one of the most important things we could accomplish.
Is it legal for non-citizens in Wisconsin?
I have a ton of relatives in Northern Wisconsin, there are similarities to backwoods Alaska.
In fact if you go there, don't mess with my aunt, she is armed and dangerous.

Yes, there are some quirks like you can't open carry in your car because of how the CCW law is written.
Was just at the Green Bay farmer's market and saw one person carrying open. Wasn't close to see what he was carrying but it was fullsize. Even if he was carrying concealed you would have known because he was wearing a very obnoxious sheepdog shirt.
