First, let me say I am really happy with the Ruger LC9S, as a concealed carry weapon. It is 7+1 rounds. Comfortable and reliable, lightweight, accurate and thin.

But, lately I have been reading about a lot of multiple robbers and multiple attackers, and am beginning to wonder if a double stack pistol with 15-17 rounds would not make a better everyday CCW pistol even though it is much larger.

What do you guys think.
If you want a double stack with 10, 13, or 17 round capacity check out the XD Mod 2. It gives you the options of whatever you think you need and has a 3 inch barrel. The advantage with this weapon is if you go somewhere that limits you to 10 rounds. Still easily concealed, I have not tried carrying with the extended 17 round but the 10 and 13 keep it the same size.
Just carry more mags. Smile or 2 guns. LOL
I have other carry options, an XD in 40SW or FNS-9... I'm not carrying 2... And there is always the FNX in .45ACP if I win the lotto...
If that is your concern then go for it. I think comes down to your situation. If you feel you need that extra capacity without reloading and you have no problems concealing it then no issues. If it's me, going to work the pocket pistol and extra mag makes more sense. Anywhere else then I can have more of a choice.

I'm happy with the S&W M&P 357c compact (they only have the 40c or the 9c now). Doublestack but not fullsize and not a pocket pistol. Takes compact mags but can take the fullsize mags. I haven't tried the 30+ round mags from ProMag.
I've been going back and forth about that as well... I was thinking if I adjust my clothing a little more I could carry my 3.8" XDm 9mm and that would be great. But my XDs is pretty comfortable and so much slimmer... I usually have 2 extra mags available with me... But still 13 rounds at the ready seems more comforting.

Overall, I still feel the XDs would get me out of any trouble. So I haven't felt the need to switch. It's what I've trained with so I know it better for now.
However... My plan is to get involved with idpa, and see if there's one that I grow more attached to our comfortable with for different situations and scenarios. I can shoot a few matches with each gun to get a better feel for them.
I think the thought should be not how many rounds you should have but what is the plan if multiple people attack. If they are armed with AR/AK's no matter how many rounds you carry really doesn't matter at this point. Even if the multiple attackers have handguns, does it really change anything?

My main goal would be finding an exit or someplace I can position myself for protection.
The problem with all of this is without experience it turns into a lot of speculation and trying to apply logic.

On the one hand if you have exhausted 8-15 rounds (extra mag) of .45 and are still going then you are in a firefight. A few more 9 MM rounds may not help much.

On the other hand, like wilderness protection where the conventional wisdom is carry the biggest round you can shoot accurately, maybe carry the most ammo you can conceal is right.
