I watched a dash cam vid today from a CA LEO. He had stopped a car and asked the driver if he had drugs. The driver replied "No" and was told to wait and he was going to get the dog and do an exterior search. While the LEO was gone, the driver released two balloons that had something tied to them. The rest of the vid is the LEO discharging his service weapon at the balloons.
Did he ever give a thought that the lead is going to hit something somewhere with the same velocity that it left the weapon?

But I'd agree, terrible idea.. You don't know where those will come down at! Getting too wrapped up in the situation and want thinking of the consequences
The vid did not show a hit. But no, a 10-12 inch target more than a 100 feet away and moving with a pistol.
Edited it to say, I know there are some who can hit a 10 target at 100 ft., but that puts them at the head of a very small class.

It was a cop...most likely not.
There are going to be a lot more drug dealers carrying balloons from now on

Yeah, when I watched this video I wondered if he always carries helium balloons with him
