Well, that's that kind of BS. Money is only what ever people trust. Make money illegal, and you may end up making any tangible item become currency.

I have a feeling that such a scenario could be make firearm become much more valuable....MUHAHAHAHA
I'm going to estimate that half the money in the United States is already illegal, just not in the same context as the article.
How much for that gun? 2 sheep, 2 Goats, plus one cow for tax.
Quote:Electronic money is an inclusive and convenient system, giving poor and rural sectors of an economy – where cash machines and bank branches may be few and far between and not all people have accounts – a tool for easy participation in the economy.

Yeah, because the issue for poor people is not being able to get at their millions in the bank.
Oh, this one too...

Going cashless is going to stop people from stealing credit card numbers and identities?
Wow that was a lot of BS, the idea of negative interest here is insane. Maybe there with their social welfare. But if the economy sucks I am not spending money on stupid things. But if we do go cashless how many chickens to get a rem 870 classic trap?
Did anybody actually need to read past the comment below?

I know liberals are slowly becoming more obvious, but this guy is not even trying to hide it.

"held at a government-run bank would give the authorities far better tools to deal with recessions and economic booms"

At least stop using the big banks and move to a credit union. Negative interest was brought up earlier and they are accomplishing it through their fees. 0.05% on checking usually won't make up for the monthly fee.
More money in electronic form has been stolen than all robberies and theft in the history of the USA. Electronic cash, is far easier to steal than a physical form of cash. Electronic money can be stolen from thousands of miles away. It is far easier to counterfeit. Ask any credit card company their losses on that alone. Electronic theft is not in the millions, but billions every year.

The only reason governments favor electronic money is they can tract if and confiscate via taxes more of your money.
