Just a thought... How about an event at RDA where forum members come and show of some or all of there "pride and joys"? Folks can gets tips on how to improve, see options on accessories, etc. Thoughts?

We could also make it a training opp or intro to other types of firearms. I for one know very little about shotguns and would like to see what other folks have. Something I have on my to get list.

I would be interested in this. My next purchase will be a compact 9mm and the more information gathered from users would be beneficial.

Get an XDs.. Haha I have the XDm compact 3.8 and I live that so far, and I have the XDs .45 which I love and use daily. But if your looking for something small the XDs has been perfect.

I like the idea of the show and tell. I'd be on board with this idea. Just to see how everybody likes to set up their gear. Even down to the edc bags. I still have much to do with mine just from Kens recommendations!

ssphoto, I have been shooting since the 1980's, yet had never fired a shotgun in my entire life, until I took the RDA Shotgun course. I knew squat about shotguns. Steve New taught the course, and is an excellent instructor. Not only that, but for the course he had brought at least two dozen different types of shotguns, of all different types. This is a very hands on course. You get to examine any of the guns you wanted in great detail. He answered any questions on them. Be prepared to shoot! I fired over 25 rounds from my own Remington 870 and I don't know how many more through 2 other shotguns. He had me hitting 2-3 out 5 clays right out of the gate.

If you want to learn about shotguns, for any purpose, take this class! It is worth every penny, and it is FUN.

I give this class 5 stars!

I'm game for showing off any of my toys. If someone really is interested purchasing a gun I own, I am usually willing to meet them at McMiller and let them actually shoot it. I have done this for the Remington 1911 R1 Enhanced, the Ruger SR-762, the FNS-9 and the Springfield XDm 5.25" competition model .45ACP. Those that did the shooting all thanked me, and I enjoyed the company. Hopefully, RDA has sold a few extra ones.

I would agree with the shotgun class being top notch! I took it as well and it was a lot of fun and like 308 said, very hands on, and a lot of fun too.

So, does anyone at RDA want to make arrangements for this "show and tell" or do you want to get more feedback on who'd attend first? Perhaps a forum count? Just checking, as I'd hate to see interest now then the idea fizzles.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I'd be happy to show up, and talk about guns all day Smile But I rather spend the day at the range doing it! But I am always happy to bring any of my firearms and discuss their merits, drawbacks and quirks.

I really don't know if McMiller has a meeting room.

I mean really, there is nothing better than showing off a toy, and then actually playing with it. It's like a when you were a kid, with a new train for Xmas... Of course you wanted it set up and running.

I know various people have used the large lawn outside the main building, setting up tables and canopies, etc.

I was there a couple times when someone had food tables, etc.

One was the woman who calls herself "Fate of Destiny" and does a lot of you tube videos.

I would think they might welcome this. I could see something like this growing over the years. It would be like the personal car shows, except instead of just looking under the hoods, you can go over and try the guns. Obviously, they would probably want coordination with their Range officers, etc.

Done right this could be really good.

Or we could keep it local and just use a local outdoor range; isn't there one nearby Lake Villa? Some folks might be turned off by the drive; not sure. I'd be interested either way.
