I wanted to get some opinions on the current scarcity and overall .22 Long Rifle market of today Versus 2 Years go. Are people still hoarding? Are the rounds just not in circulation? Where are people having luck finding ammo for a reasonable price and quantity?

Im seeing people hoard for ABSOLUTELY no reason at all. Worse are the ones who buy it to resale it online at twice the cost. Funny though, as the ammo returns to shelves, the gougers will be stuck with the ammo and eventually lose money to sell it Smile It's coming back steadily, shouldn't be too much longer until things are back to normal.

we can only hope. im still wondering where these people are finding stuff to hoard. i keep hearing stories of wal mart miracles but i have yet to actually find anything. i have heard many people tell me about having detailed shipment lists so they know exactly when ammo will be in stock, then they rally friends and family.

Walmart gets a certain number of ammunition per store depending on the volume they sell on average. some stores will have more than others.

The prices will likely never get back to where they were but availability is coming back. People are definitely still hoarding though...

Prices will have to drop as supply catches up.

Part of the issue is the powder. We can't product enough powder for the demand. That's what our supplier is telling me.

The guy behind the counter said he thinks between 25-28. I didn't need to know specifically because I don't need any. I asked if they would be sold by end of the day and he said yes, probably.

I have not seen 22LR in over a year, and anything close to reasonable price (under $50/brick). I am down to under 4000 rds of 22LR. Soon I will leave the plinkers at home. sad

If this continues like this, 22LR guns will not be in any demand. I continue to draw down on my 22LR stock. What I see is a lot of ammo is in short supply again. The McHenry Walmart has some .223 and a couple boxes of 40S&W, 45APC and 30-06. No .308, 7.62x39, 9mm, 22LR, 357 magnum, 380 or 30-30. They do have a ton of 7mm rifle. If you see any PerFecta ammo (made by Fiocchi/Tul) at Walmart, this is really good stuff and cheap, buy it.

If people are hoarding this could take a long time to come back to normal. And then we start the 2016 election cycle with the fears that will bring on.

McMiller seems to have most ammo calibers, but at a couple bucks more a box.
