My thought's is Glock was looking to the future when they designed the G-42 frame. The G-42 has larger frame than other sub compact 380's and should handle a 9mm fairly well.
Any thought's on the design and performance of the G-42 in .380? I haven't had the opportunity to shoot one yet. The only .380 I ever owned was West German made Walther PPK/S. stainless. I'm sold the gun almost 20 years ago and I'm still kicking myself or not keeping it.

I'll be getting one when they come out for sure. You may be right with the frame size for the 9mm.

After all it's a Glock, and they still need time to work out the kinks? Are not all Glocks pretty much the same?

Aren't all XD's the same? But you had the XDS going auto until they recalled them Thumbup

A full auto XDS? Damn, that would have been a great purchase!

And yes the XD's are pretty much the same, but they have all been out for a while...

Springfield! the comfortable, great sights, better trigger, better looking, and reliable Glock, available NOW...

Better sights? Personal preference. Better trigger? Hardly. Better looking? Again, personal preference. More reliable? Lets put some money on that.

I agree about the sights. I changed the sights on a few of my Glocks. Although I'm use to Glock triggers, more out of want than need, I'm just starting to look at a trigger replacement to try out. In almost a 30 year period of Glock ownership I've never had an issue other than with a magazine which was promptly replaced by Glock. I've pulled the trigger on a few Glocks an infinite number of times and a bullet went out the front and the casings ejected all but a few times which I blame on the user(me)rather than the gun.

If I'm shooting paper at a range I find a 6" .357 revolver with target sights fits me the best? I love semi's but I really have a thing for .357 revolvers. For a carry weapon I don't feel sights make any difference. For home defense I keep a Glock close to my bed, I figure if I need a few extra seconds to reach my 12 Ga. my Glock will give me those few seconds.

Like you said personal preference is one of the main things. I'll mention user comfort, confidence and practice to that too. No I don't want to put money on anything.....well maybe on a new Glock in February. Smile

I had a few questions for Glock so I figured no harm in asking-

**** Can you tell me if Glock will have a 9mm in the G-42 size at the Shot Show in January. I've been holding off on purchasing a competitors sub compact 9mm.

Customer Service answer-
"Glock usually introduces new products at the Shot Show in Vegas held usually in January."

Love all of my glocks. Bought the 42 a few months back and it fits perfect in my ankle holster. If they do come out with a 42 sized 9m then I will probably buy it also. I have Ruger, and S&W weapons also but I love my glocks. It also helps to have BIGGER hands since most of mine are double stacks. The SF models are a little to narrow for my grip.

Just spent the last two hours at the range shooting, for the first time my G42. Started at 25 feet and then pushed back to the ranges max at 50 feet. Love it! The last 5rnds at 50 feet were all in the black. Not bad for my little gun.

I've never shot a sub-compact. I have larger hands and I think that it's just the idea of not having all fingers on the grip that seems awkward. Was that an issue for you at all with the G42?

Except for my first one, each gun I have purchase I had a specific purpose in mind, and I shot 4-6 guns in each category. Each gun I tried had an advantage, but the all around winner each time was a Springfield.

My last gun was a full size 9 mm I use for IDPA. The Glocks were the easiest to get a second site picture, the Beretta 92 was the easiest to shoot accurately without a clear site picture, etc.

But all around the Springfields fit my hand the best and performed better for me over all categories.

Regarding the XDs recalls there was nothing wrong with the trigger. This was a lawyer directed CYA recall.

Here is a video of Rob Leatham explaining why there were problems without actually saying this was the reason. Those who had issues with it did so because they did not do what was in this video.

And, BTW, I learned this on the range in Red Dot classes, so I didn't have those issues.

I have only three mags at the moment for the G42 as I usually have 5 per gun. On two of the mags I installed the extension so my hand had a better grip. Even when shooting the mag without the extension on it was not an issues. My glove size is XL if that tells you anything. Most gloves that are XL fit my hand perfect. I have a LCP and although I like to shoot it, the G42 fits better and shoots better. Even at rapid fire, two rounds were within the three in group and the other three were adjoined triplets. I went with the guy I bought the G42 from and he was quite shock at well it was shooting. He sold it to me because he could not even hit the paper at a closer distance. He is also a BIG guy.
