We do the easy part by showing you how to do it, the real work is taking what is taught, and applying it.

It can really be a fun time when doing this sport with a spouse. Most of our date nights include a visit at Bass Pro.

About 30 years ago I worked for an old man from Hungary. He experienced both the Nazis and Soviets (btw, he said the Nazi's were not as bad compared to the Soviets for cruelty), in fact he spent tow years in a Russian prison for trying to leave. He eventually got out and made his way to East Germany and then got over the Berlin Wall with his wife.
He once told me the secret to a good marriage was to put aside "your" hobbies and "her" hobbies and find things you both like to do together.

Very wise message.

good question. But it would be helpful to know what use you plan for it (target, self-defense, concealed carry) and how much hand strength you have, and will your wife also use it. As for me, after my military issued 1911 .45 cal, I puchased a newly released Ruger GP100 .357 magnum (1994) because it felt good and balanced in my hand, knock down power, stainless steel, and it also fires .38 special ammo. I bought a shoulder holster as I also carry it when I go into wilderness areas for protection. I also bought two quick load devices. It looks new even today. The grip on mine is the rubber with wood inserts. Very nice revolver. I think I aid about $350 new, but today new would be about $700. As for a semi-auto (SA), I prefer a .40 cal open carry, or a .380 cal for concealed carry. Both of mine are Walther P99QA .40 and PPK/S .380.

There is just something about a Ruger GP100 revolver, that says I'll give years of service. I am an automatic guy, but this revolver is fun to shoot, seems accurate as hell. When I add a revolver, it will be the 4" barrel version of the GP100.

You nailed it, spot on. My GP100 is a 4" model too.

No argument here!
I wouldn't carry mine, it's a tank (6"), but it's a joy to shoot. I would like to pick up an SP101 for pocket or ankle carry/BUG at some point. I'm not in love with Ruger's semi-autos, but they make one hell of a wheel gun.

I like my Springfield's, an XD in .40SW and a XDm in .45ACP 5.25" barrel. I have a Ruger LC9S, Remington 1911 Enchanced, and an FNS-9 which are all great firearms. We live in an era of many great choices! Your Walther PPK is in my mind the easiest handgun ever made to field strip!

My favorite semi-auto is also the one I've had the longest, HK USP in .40S&W. There's just something about that weapon that calls my name. Other than not having a grip safety, its manual of operation isn't much different from the tried and true 1911, including the same style thumb safety and slide release lever. Its mag release is a little different but in the same general location.
