I was looking at some unfinished receivers before that you just need a drill press to finish. At least if I remember right. I was tempted with it for the project but my brother is the one with the press
He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.”

Do you really feel that an untraceable receiver is needed? If so, why? There are probably upwards of 390 million firearms in the USA based upon sales of near 200 million the last 25 years and another 200 million from 1920-1990 remaining. Mind you these are probably very conservative numbers, as they don't include imports. I doubt Americans would turn over their guns. If the government tried to confiscate firearms in direct contradiction to the Second Amendment there would be a civil war. And rightfully so.

If you have the tools. I kinda like the idea of ignoring the Feds. But how do you sell such a homemade firearm? I checked online in Illinois gun laws. In Illinois for a 'homemade' firearm to be transferred it must be marked and serialized by the owner, and records kept per law. This law does not apply to firearms manufactured before serialization began. However, such older firearms must be described in the sale documents to the point that the description is unique.

You may run into problems with police as they will want to see that the firearm has not had serial numbers removed.

It appears to be quite a grey area in State law. At least in Illinois. We live in interesting times.

Right, if you sell it, it must be serialized.

I just think it would be awesome to say I did it. And a really fun experience

I think most people who've been involved with guns for a good portion of their life has at one time or another had an urge for to have a clean gun. But what would you do with it? I'm going on 60 this month and can't think of one time I would of had a need for one since I started shooting some 50 years ago.
