But they were able to apprehend that baby a few months ago, fairly quickly.

Kinda shows how the little things do matter. Like they turned down the security boxes because of the noise, and who knows what the guy outside the front door was doing instead of guarding, maybe smoking, maybe texting but that allowed the guy to run freely inside and surprise the other guard. I'm assuming by now they've been reprimanded and the problem fixed. Lol

but we should make sure to pay attention for our own safety. We don't have secret service trying to stop intruders.
He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.”

Isn't the Secret Service the elite of the elite? Isn't the White House their primary residence to guard? Wouldn't a second fence make sense? No guard dogs?
Doors unlocked? Even Public schools are smarter than that. Just goes to show how one needs to remain alert at all times, and never complacent.

I bet that that Putin wouldn't have this problem.

The Secret Service's primary duty is to protect certain individuals who were not in the White House at the time so there was probably more Park Service people there than agents. There is an agent who is supposed to lock the door when the alarm is triggered but he was overpowered.

No, I don't think Putin would have this problem but he doesn't have the 1st Amendment or elections to deal with. And judo, he knows judo.

I've always wondered why there's no highly trained shooters on the roof of the White House. Seems like the ground crew can't do anything other than cut grass.

I could be wrong but I thought there shooters on the roof when the President was there. Still, the Secret Service got lucky here. This guy could have had a pipe bomb or something.

That's true. It could have been a lot worse. He could have done a fairly heavy amount of damage quickly

Before this happened, I would have bet big money that no one could even put their hands on the doorknob, let alone make it inside.

Worse, he could have been an ISIS suicide bomber with an explosive vest...

American is a target rich environment. Little to no protection for major infrastructure. We cannot defend against everything. We need to read Patton, Curtis LeMay and Douglas MacArthur on how to fight wars.

Progressive strategies on how to fight wars do not work.
