Hard to believe it is the same stock! I'm impressed! I am liking my Mosin too! She sure shoots well, how can you go wrong. Mine was $173 (148+25 FFL fee). After I de-cosmolined it, and reassembled it, it shoots great. I cleaned mine with CLP and thought it was clean, but then ran some Copper solvent down the bore and it took like a half dozen plus swabs before they we not black as coal. She's a really good shooter.
Thanks guys. And yeah the red mahogany Minwax finished with Tru Oil does a remarkable job covering imperfections. it shoots good but I still have some stubborn carbon/rust clinging to the rifling if anyone has any suggestions. Ive tried m-pro7, Barnes CR-10, and every Hoppes product I can findand after burning through three or four bronze brushes I'm kind of at a loss

Try some copper cleaner. I was shocked that the rifling looked good after cleaning with CLP and the patches were clean, how black the first half dozen patches were with copper cleaner. Maybe it is copper fouling and not rust.
Oh, and use a nylon bore brush, as the copper solvent will destroy brass brushes. I don't remember if I bought these at RDA or from Brownells.

Yeah idk why its so hard to find nylon brushes nowadays but im gonna find one and give that a try because i think your right and the Barnes most likely ate up the brushes before they ever had a chance do work. Thanks for the tip

You can try www.luckygunner.com They are reasonable and don't kill you on shipping. They also sell the Silver Bear stuff (non-corrosive) for like about double. I think the 440 spam cans were $94 and 500 Silver Bear were like $195...
