I saw a sale on stripped AR lowers last weekend and by the time I got back in the house (from Costco) they were already sold out. They were stripped AERO lowers for $48.99 (free shipping). So I then saw that they had AERO stripped upper and lower sets for $98.99 each. With 7 left in stock I bought two. I still have one left in my safe but it is set for a 223 build with a 10.5" barrel. So with one of these new sets coming in I thought I would start a build with 7.62x 39.
Anyone done one of these yet? This should not be any big deal. Thoughts? Concerns? Tips? Adjustable (tunable)gas block?

hmmm... Not sure what I would want an AR in 7.62x39. I have an AK, and was thinking about a second gun in that caliber. I was looking at M+M M10X-Z which seems to be interesting, but I could just add a pristine SKS for a lot less money (of course one that takes AK Mags). But I will follow your build idea with a lot of interest.

Apparently after talking to a friend (retired Special Forces and class III builder) and my brother that loves to build AK's and AR's, it is quite easy. They both state that, for them it was relativity easy and quite fun to shoot. My thought was, other than the BCG, barrel, muzzle brake, and magazine, how hard can this be. I have quite a few 223 and one AK in the safe so lets do something different. The only thing slowing me down a little is paying for my son's wedding this June. So while some parts get ordered some parts will have to wait until the 3rd qtr of the year.

Not yet..Life cam at us pretty hard and fast. Had to finish my safe, my oldest son, got married, work issues (employees and pumps), toilet supply line broke and flooded my upstairs master bathroom and the water came through the ceiling of my just finished guest room, and the fun continues. At least I get to the experience of using servproHelp
Oh but I did get one thing, that still needs finishing...my brother built me, out of an 80% lower, an AR-9. So I now need to put the finishing touches on this bad boy.

I though about building a pistol caliber carbine, or buying the Kel-Tec or new Ruger. But I have decided to wait for 10mm carbine. I did look at and have an opportunity to shoot the Hi-Point in 10mm... Really though it was decent, but ugly with the ergonomics of a railroad tie. But I am an HK91 fanboy, so I like railroad ties. The Kel-Tec, 9mm is really only good out to a 100yds. And I have not shot the Ruger version yet.

Not sure I like any of the pistol caliber carbines out there now. I do have a Kel-Tec CMR (in 22 WMR) that I really like. But I will wait for the 10mm Ruger before I make up my mind...

10mm would be fun also. I just want to get my 10" AR pistol, AR47 rifle and now my AR9 completed. I really want to build an AR47 7.5" pistol but I need to do some more reading on them.

My wife and I just received our new bathroom vanity for the bathroom that was flooded out. Now its time to divert money to remodel my master bathroom. We took a gamble and bought a vanity from the RTA store. Taking care of items that life trows at you. Help

I just started an ar-15 pistol in 300blk with an 8.5" barrel... It'll be a while before I finish it, but I'm excited!

I know what you mean. Time is my biggest issue. Now I have a grandson due in March and my son has asked me to help him remodel the baby's room. Oh well, no time for sleep.

Never thought about a 300BO. Maybe after I finish my AR9, AR47, AK47 and two other AR15's. I did get $330 in gift cards for a local farm and ranch store that carries a LOT of guns!!!!

Don't forget to post pic's!Heart
