Ok, I want to replace 4 charging handles with one common model. I have broken one on an AR15 platform, and I have scoped Ruger SR762 that is difficult to charge. So I have been thinking it is time to replace the standard ones with something better.

What do you guys recommend and why?

For the scoped AR, I would go with a BCM Gunfighter with the large catch on it. I have seen guys cycle their rifle using just the left side of the charging handle using this this model, which comes in handy for scoped rifles. There are a couple of others that this is possible with but this one is usually the least expensive. For right-handers with the other rifles, you could go with the medium or small latch models of the same handle or just get the large for all 4 rifles. All three models are usually the same price. For a lefty, the Raptor or Geissele ambi handles are a good choice. I would still go with the BCM large for a scoped rifle.

I will concur with Mr. White. I have purchased at least a dozen charging handles and by far my favorite is the BCM GUN FIGHTER Charging Handle (5.56mm/.223) w/ Mod 4 (MEDIUM) Latch and the BCM GUN FIGHTER Charging Handle (5.56mm/.223) w/ Mod 3 (LARGE) Latch. I have both of them and I have never had on issue with either one.

Ok, I have decided to go with the BCM Gun Fighter Mod 4. for all 4 platforms. Strangely enough I recieved the 2 .308 charging handles like in one day, and the other two shipped. I elected to go with the Medium latch as it felt easier to work, and didn't stick out as far. It works great on the scoped LR308.

The other two should be here this week, and then it's up to McMiller to check them out.

You will love them. They work great although they may be a little more expensive than regular handles but I feel they are worth it.

All installed and they do work great! Had zero issues up at McMiller yesterday. But now I have a few rifles to clean...

It's even better if you have a few kids or grandkids that you can "Tom Sawyer" into cleaning them as a "learning experience".

I used to hate cleaning guns, now I actually look forward to it. All firearms get cleaned twice a year. And within a day if I take em to the range. The one thing I just cannot seem to get used to is if I use corrosive Russian rounds in the Mosin, that I need to rinse the barrel with ammonia and water before I leave the range.

You really don't need the ammonia. Warm water will do just fine until you get home to clean it. You just need to rinse out the corrosive salts that were used in the old combloc surplus. For that, water alone is fine.

hmmm... I was taught to mix a couple oz. of ammonia with a half gallon of water... It is just that I am not used to the idea of water and guns...

When using corrosive ammo in my AK or SKS rifles, I just pour a bottle of water down the barrel and gas tube, if I'm not at my back yard range. One range I go to actually has temperature adjustable taps, like those for a garden hose, connected to short length rubber hoses for people to rinse out the corrosive salts.
