Don't buy or sell I.O. AKs!

Don't buy or sell I.O. AKs!
I just looked at Red Dots sales flyer e-mail and saw an Inter-Ordnance (aka I.O.) AK listed. Please don't buy or sell these rifles. They are complete garbage. I believe I covered those in my AK post awhile back. If you do a simple Google search for I.O. rifles, numerous reports of catastrophic failures will be revealed. It's only by sheer luck that someone has not been severely injured or killed by one of these failures. If you want to buy a cheap AK, get one of the N-PAPs from that same flyer, instead.

RE: Don't buy or sell I.O. AKs!
Good afternoon, you are correct the N-PAPs always seem to be pretty good. We have sold quite a few of the I.O's without an issue. Like any manufactured products, occasionally a bad apple slips through. It happens with the best of manufactures once in awhile. I have not know of any recalls on the I.O AK's. These days if there is a serious problem going on, most manufactures will do a recall as they want their customers to be happy and tell their friends. I am not familiar of any catastrophic failures on these guns that can be linked to the gun itself.
A plus is that these are US made products. I have seen mixed reviews on customer service, but they should be easier to deal with than an eastern European manufacture. Check out he blog post below, an independent review from someone who had an issue at first and then ended up really liking the gun. In the meantime, good shooting!

Yep, like all guns, there are those with good and bad reputations. Ask me what I think of Hi-Points some time. However, many people are no very limited budgets or have wives. Plus it may just be a "project gun" or learning gun. I usually buy the high quality firearms, but sometimes like a good deal too. Sometimes the differences in quality don't matter. Sometimes condition doesn't matter either. Sometimes you just take "pot luck" and buy a Mosin-Nagant for instance. Most firearms are safe to shoot when new (even Hi-Points?).

I.O. has a bad rep among the AK community because they have earned it. Anyone that knows these rifles avoids them. You are correct in there never having been a recall but they have had numerous have issues that required repair or replacement. Here's a video of one that didn't even make it to 2000 rounds before failing:

If you want a US built AK, get a PSA, DDI, or Definitive Arms.

PS: I'd buy a Hi-point, one of the carbines anyway, before I'd buy an I.O. Neither is at the top of my to buy list, though. ;)

I'll make you deal, I won'd buy an IO Ak and you stay away from Hi-Points!
