Ok, if America is dumb enough to vote Hillary in, and say you wanted to by a couple of firearms, before she tries confiscate them all. What would you buy? Shotguns? AR-15's, Handguns?

I am thinking it might be wise to buy a couple more handguns. I am leaning to a couple that are not expensive, in either .45 ACP or 9mm. I was thinking Ruger American's. I could go Glocks or another FNS-9 as well. I was thinking the Rugers are reliable, similar, and both can be had for under a grand out the door.

What would be your choices?

They will go after the ARs first. I only have one I bought used, so I would go that way. Perhaps an 80% lower.

If it were a hurry up and get it quick scenario, I would buy/build a 308 or 300wm platformed rifle. I am okay on all the other items like handguns, AR's and other rifles. Maybe another shotgun or two but most important item would be more ammo, like twice the amount I currently have and I would be find for a long while.

I was not planning on getting an AR in the near future but looking at the prospects I picked up an Anderson lower a couple of months ago when they were still under $40. Probably would do the same again.

OK, maybe I better add a couple AR lowers to my buy list. I will have to look at those Palmetto State ones again...

Its funny you say that, my brother has about 30 lowers and uppers to match. Since PSA's lowers are made by Aero Precision as is the uppers. I always buy Aero, Surplus Ammo's (made buy Aero) or Anderson. Most of them, here lately have almost doubled in price and can now be found on back order.

Since this turned into a lower conversation.

What is everyone's opinions on billet vs. forged and 7075 vs. 6061 aluminum.

Does strength really matter that much? From what I understand both the 7075 and forged is stronger than their counterparts.

Does anything make a difference in performance and or precision?

Who are the companies to avoid?

Great questions! Since I would be looking for only 1-2 Lowers, I thought the Palmetto State ones were a good value. If I were going for super high end, I find one in titanium. As long as the lower is quality aluminum I think either is OK. The 7075 certainly is stronger.

Here is a couple of great articles that I have read before I started to build.
As far as who to avoid...with me its the COST! Why pay more for a Brand Named unit when you can buy one of equal quality for less.
Maybe you can even build an 80%'er. I am sure RDA can put a good finish on it for you!
http://www.americanweaponscomponents.com...hats-best/

http://campcreekgunworks.com/billet-vs-forged/

In conclusion, I think that a forged receiver is just as good as a billet receiver. In some ways (structural integrity), it may even be better. It will NEVER be as pretty. For my money, I’d stick with forged. Spend the money that you saved on a better barrel, or a nicer trigger unit than the one you’d planned on. Or better yet, spend it on dinner for the wife. Reward her because she didn’t kill you for buying ANOTHER AR-15…

And since AERO makes A LOT of other lowers/uppers, I tend to stick with them. Other than that, I love my Andersons. I do have a Mega upper but Mega has a higher price tag. One of the last Shot guns news articles listed Anderson as one the the top three lowers. They did not have a Aero in the group. Also that is why I also buy Surplus Ammo lowers since they are usually less expensive and they are made by Aero, they are also right next door to each other. Save the money and buy a better barrel, trigger, scope, or other parts.

I think I will just go with the PSA lowers, I will only buy 2. I think they are high enough quality. I don't think lower undergo that my stress on the AR15 platform, so I have to totally agree.

Thanks for the input.

I found the Shotgun news article. I like the measurement section, very helpful. Naturally, Anderson linked it on their site. (http://www.andersonrifles.com/wp-content...ootout.pdf)

Here is another site with a comparison chart and separate reviews, in case anyone else is interested.

http://80percents.com/80_lower_comparison_chart.html

Does anyone have experience with or knowledge of Tactical Machining? They seem to get high reviews as well.

Anderson seems to be out on all their 80%. They are the same price range on them as Tactical.

I am seriously considering getting at least one 80% while the getting is good.

Whatever laws can get past the new congress next year, you know the AFT will feel embolden if Hillary wins and do all sorts of idiocy.

If I had the resources to finish one off, I would buy and 80% today.

Also check out Surplus Ammo for deals. Some times they will give you a free upper with a purchase of a Black Hole Weaponry barrel. I have two of BHW barrels and my brother actually tried to convince me to give him one. He was kind of mad at me for not handing it over but a couple of 32oz growlers of Oregon Craft beer mellowed him out!

I am thinking I am not in this to make money. I might want to actually build one from scratch to learn from my mistakes, so to speak. I am going to buy an extra .45ACP handgun. I really like the Ruger American, and I don't own any Glocks, so maybe a 21. Sure wish FN made a striker fired .45ACP, the FNS-9 is so much better than a Glock 17/19 in my opinion.

Yeah, it is... a little expensive, and double action... I like the striker fired guns. For the price of the FNX-45 I could buy 3 Ruger American's in .45 ACP or 2 Glocks easy (even with the additional cost of replacing the sights).

Alas, I am no longer Glock free. I purchased a Glock 21, cause with my fat fingers, the Glock 19 raise finger grips just bit into my fingers. So I took the 21 out to the range, and shot it a bunch. It's an OK shooter, no where near as accurate as my Springfield, but OK. The worst think about it is I will have to spend about $165 to get rid of the awful sights and replace them with good night sights. The pistol did come with 3 magazines which is a plus, but the magazine loader that came with it is a cheap piece of junk compared to a Springfield. Take down and cleaning was easy enough. For now it is a keeper, but I don't see what the mystique is all about. I feel both Springfields and FN's are better. The grip is a major problem, Glock grips seem designed for midgets. I will likely have to replace the trigger as well, to bring the gun up to minimum standards for a pistol. Sure wish FN made a striker fired .45 ACP pistol.

Just put a new G21 and a new G43 on layaway with my LGS. I will be bringing them home right after the election.

As far as the trigger try the .25 trigger job or http://www.occustomtriggers.com/ALL-GEN-...SF_c56.htm and or go to http://zevtechnologies.com/ZEV-Race-Connector-v4_2 for a new connector or to http://www.ghostinc.com/product/GHO_GR4/...N-1-4.html.

I will be fitting all of my Glocks, all 7 of them with the same. Exceptions will vary on the connectors since a few of them are my EDC's. So a heavier pull on the EDC's will be maintained.

A Glock 43? Bad sights, really awful trigger, less rounds than a 1911?, and way more Expensive... I'd rather have an M&P Shield or Ruger LC9S. But I suppose if you plan to carry two G43's it might be OK...
