Dear Valued Remington Wholesale Distribution Customer,

We want to follow up on the R51 Pistol Product Update media announcement that was issued last Friday, July 25. Copies of our Media Update, Customer Letter and Consumer Letter are attached for your knowledge. As most of you know, we have experienced production challenges with the R51 over the last several months. We have communicated that there are function issues with some of the guns and are offering affected consumers a replacement R51 along with a Pelican case and 2 additional magazines for their troubles.

We want to stress that this is not a recall. There is nothing unsafe about the gun and many are functioning very well. We are all on the front lines and hear every negative piece of info about Remington products, but there are still many consumers who have a positive view of the R51 but can’t find one to purchase or are happy with the product they own. The R51 is an exceptional design and, once right, a game changer.

Here is an overview of the attached communications:

R51 Media Statement

This was distributed to the media on Friday, July 25.
The media statement can be distributed to your sales resources as a guide when working with dealers.


R51 Letter to Consumers

This communication is for consumers who have returned an R51 pistol for warranty repair.
We will replace any warranty product directly to the consumer, to include a new R51, two extra magazines and a Pelican handgun case.
We would appreciate your support to distribute this letter to your independent dealer customers for their use with any consumers who have purchased an R51.


R51 Letter to Customers

This communication is for wholesale distributor and retail customers.
The Customer letter can also be distributed to your sales resources for their use in working with dealers.
If you have any R51 pistols remaining in inventory, these can be returned for credit by contacting our customer sales department (1-888-736-4867).
For any dealer that has inventory, they can return directly to Remington and we will REPLACE the pistols with new production.
Returned pistols will be replaced with new R51 pistols. In addition two extra magazines, and a Pelican handgun case will be shipped for each pistol returned.
Any product returned for replacement will receive priority shipment once production resumes in October.


On a personal note; we apologize this info is coming to you after the announcement was made to the public. We know this puts you and your customers in a tough spot when they are uninformed. If there is anything we can do to help your dealers work through this, please let me know.
