When I started shooting pistols, and before finding Red Dot, I gathered info, and a few mistakes, from a lot of sources.

Between Steve, Mike, and Robb we fixed the mistakes, so when the time came to take up the AR I started right with Red Dot.

I took the first intro class today. One thing Robb taught was the right way to insert the mag - push in and pull for test instead of inserting and banging or slapping it. We were given the reasons why (I will let you take the class to find out Smile ).

Later I was strolling through Bass Pro and they had a seminar on home defense. I walked past and saw the speaker holding an AR. I stopped long enough to watch him insert a mag and bang it in and say something about it I couldn't hear. I smiled, walked on, and thought "you guys should have went to Red Dot".

It is the little things that can make all the difference in handling a firearm. RDA teaches you the right way. I know every weapon platform is different. I am sure what applies to AR's doesn't apply to M1A's, HK91's, FAL's or AK type platforms. RDA will teach you the right way.

You guys do a good job of it! I'm excited for when I can afford to take my next round of classes... I'm hoping to take the ar class the next time it comes around. But my ar still isn't built... And I have a lot of practice that needs to be done with the pistols yet!

I plan on building one too, but I decided to pick up a used one, both for class and tinkering with. I have also been watching the Brownell's videos on building and have learned a lot.

When I finally build a total new one I want to make selections based on my preference, not just others suggestions. I can't do that without experience and knowledge. I have already made a couple minor changes from what I learned in both the class and research. Just the corrections made on stance and grip I got from class has changed my thinking on some of it.

We have talked about having a "AR build class". We are waiting for the new website to be complete before adding new classes. It's just to confusing with out paper system. Stay tuned.

That would be pretty awesome! N I pretty much only started mine because my uncle gave me a good portion of what I needed for the lower, and I got an upper for a good deal. I haven't done anything else with the upper since I don't know what would be best, what works well together ect. Also the money seems to have disappeared a little quicker since we got a puppy... Haha

That puppy better grow up to be a great guard dog if it is taking gun money.

Pit Bull?
Doberman?
German Shepherd?
Sheepdog?

Please don't say poodle.

Hopefully a good choice like a Boxer or Weimaraner, both of which are excellent dogs!

6 month old German Shepherd =] we've known her since she was 3 weeks old, and picked her up in march! she already has our back and so far will listen even when there's distractions. the vet bills were a killer... but I covered those and so hopefully soon I'll be able to start saving a few pennies to throw at the AR build again. That is, assuming I don't blow it all on classes at red dot! haha

Excellent. She'll be a big one when she grows into those ears.
