Zero Tolerance knives are very big and very strong designs. Beefy blades, solid actions and some cool striped patterns. The actual manufacture is by Kershaw from designs by Ken Onion.
Prices run $150-$300. You can compare prices at Amazon.com, Bladehq.com and thekershawstore.com

My daily carry knife is a Gerber AR 3.0 that I picked up at Walmart a few years ago. It's a simple basic tactical folder but has a very good edge and opens very smoothly. It might be a good choice for people who live where assisted knives are banned. It also comes in a 3.5 model. Both are available with either a straight edge or a partially serrated edge. Mine is of the serrated variety.

For about the last 6 years I've been carrying a Buck Sirus assisted opener. I use it several times a day.

Favorite utility carry/EDC is my Spyderco Tenacious (middle pic).
Slightly smaller/lighter is my SOG Mini X-Ray Vision (bottom pic; ATS-34 blade steel).
On my off-hand (left) side/front pocket I back up my utility blade with my Spyderco Matriarch (top pic) with Emerson Wave feature. Just draw it up and out and it opens itself by catching on your pocket. AWESOME! This is for "emergencies" such as escaping a seat belt or other life threatening circumstances. By no means is it intended to be a "weapon", although I'm sure someone ELSE could use it that way.
Best money I've spent is on the Tenacious. I have one plain, and one serrated.

I swore I would buy one of these when I first saw it. I didn't but I love that upswept blade. My SOG knives have never let me down.

My 14 yr old son has a Trident. While I own a few SOG knives and generally love their stuff...I'm surprisingly unimpressed with the Trident my boy has. You could love it. It just doesn't feel right in my hands. Ultimately, all else being equal, a tool (or knife for that matter) has to feel at home in the hand. My Spyderco Tenacious does. My SOG Mini X Ray Vision does. I actually almost bought a Trident for its features, but that was before I got my hands on one.
So, while I WANTED to love that knife, I just couldn't.
Get one in your hands perhaps. That has helped me decide on many things including guns, tools, and especially knives.
Just my two cents!

What gunfight??
There are plenty of reasons to carry a knife, When was the last time you came across a wild west shootout? Chances are that a confrontation is going to be close quarters and if you don't have immediate access to your firearm because you are laying on it or perhaps it falls away from you in a scuffle, a knife is an extremely valuable tool to make space. (and for cutting open those damn bubble packs that every company packages things in).
Well said. I carry two: Spyderco Tenacious plain edge as EDC/utility blade...and Spyderco Matriarch on weak side as back up for "emergencies". I feel naked without a knife and end up using it WAY more than I even thought I would. Further, half the time, I end up helping someone else who NEEDS a knife but doesn't have one when they NEED one!
