i love my benchmade adamas ranger. its a folder but its a hefty blade. plus benchmade will sharpen it for its lifetime if you send it in! i believe it is D2.

I wouldn't only get USA made knifes, but I would much rather prefer one. May as well support our country if we can! Same as my car, I'd like to buy american, Subaru just made me a better deal.. Lol

Anyone have a opinion on the Glock fixed blade knives, specifically a model 81? I am thinking maybe as a backup to my Kbar? And I don't want to spend a fortune. I need to buy a couple of those long life food buckets first.

I have looked at those before... They were in a magazine that I get here and there. But they are a week priced item

I do still have my Glock shovel in my truck.

If you like to collect knives my everyday carry which is US made but a little pricy is a Chris Reeves small Sebenza. It is very well made with high quality materials. The blade holds a nice edge.

I just picked up one of these last night after seeing my friends. I'm pretty excited to get it. Not expensive, but felt pretty good!

A gentleman always carries a knife...
If you do you will find something to cut every day.

I have baskets full and rotate some of them. I have a definite preference for Tanto blade for piercing ability and a half saw tooth blade for cardboard, rope etc. I also lose them regularly so I don't like to get tied into $100+ designs.

I was using Benchmade Pika II Tantos in the $35 range for couple of years, and this year stumbled on new Ernie Emerson design being built by Kershaw. Emerson partnered with them to field his designs on high quality high production machines and they are running about $30-$35 each. I have an old Emerson/Benchmade I love, but don't like to carry any more because it is worth too much to replace it! I gladly carry and abuse these Emerson/Kershaws.

Here are my boys.

1. Bushman Bowie
2. Wenger Ranger 178
3. SOG Revolver
4. Helle Fjellkniven

The saws on the SOG and Wenger can cut through a two inch branch in 1 minute.

I like that SOG revolver. I'll probably look into those. Have you used it much?

I have. The saw is very good for its size, and it locks pretty good. I haven't tried really heavy work with the knife to tell how the locking mechanism holds up. For the saw I have mostly prepared firewood. I did use for cutting through some 1 inch PVC pipe.

It comes with a nice kydex sheath.

Does anybody have any experience with Zero Tolerance knives. I was looking at their 0350 model. If anybody does, do you know any place that sells them other than online? Thanks

Zero Tolerance knives are very big and very strong designs. Beefy blades, solid actions and some cool striped patterns. The actual manufacture is by Kershaw from designs by Ken Onion.

Prices run $150-$300. You can compare prices at Amazon.com, Bladehq.com and thekershawstore.com
