well i shop at paddock lake sporting goods and i purchased a box of ammo from them that was a red dot brand or in their box, still didnt know what they are then i saw a red dot sign on 83 a few weeks ago, still didnt put it together, but i went to transfer a firearm to my brother who lives in illinois and paddock lake sporting goods told me where it was so i would not have to pay their fee plus the illinois fee, which says alot about the guy at paddock lake for giving up the business because it was the right thing to do. but i instantly fell in love with the store upon my first visit

Good people at Paddock Lake to refer you to Red Dot. Also great people at Red Dot to deal and talk with. I've been in almost all gun shops, sporting goods stores and big box merchants north of I-80, Southeast of Milwaukee including many in Indiana to find RDA to be the most customer friendly, price competitive and no BS to the customer around. When RDA is busy, I've seen them take their time with customers waiting ahead of me knowing the same patience and time will be provided to me. Great find!

Well....not to say Randy at Paddock lake is not nice, LOL, but we have a gentleman's agreement for all FFL. We bring all our gun for WI FFLs to him and vice versa. We've done that from the get go. I would also add, that Red Dot send customers to Randy at a ratio of 10 to 1.

Having said that, Randy is nice guy.

i was just blown away by how up beat everyone at red dot seemed, alot of enthusiasm and not to mention the amount of merchandise in stock was really great. i do like paddock lake sporting goods, when i first walked in there i was shocked, before i had moved up here i shopped at a store called shore galleries just outside of chicago, for a lack of better words everyone who worked there were a bunch of pricks! i only purchased from them because they were close and there were not very many options available. but i feel walking in to red dot was even and upgrade in experience from paddock lake. im loving the area more and more everyday.

I live a few miles from Shore. They've been in business for ever, at one time they were a competitor of my family's old business in pre 1968 days and continued to be with long arms until my family sold the Biz and Chiraq banned sales of all guns. Shore used to be a good shop but now very dependent on bordering police business. Last time I stopped in, they had very little inventory. I asked the owner why and was told they were planning on moving. He wouldn't divulge any other info. There were rumors Shore planned on opening a range in Niles, after a battle with Niles "Mom's", property was rezoned somewhere on Oakton Ave. for a group of people who wanted to open a range. I haven't heard anything further for about a year. The name of the people were not in the news, nor have I heard anything more.

I agree on the service being terrible. I support Brick and Mortar businesses as much as I can. I hate catalog and Big Box shopping, however I expect friendly, willing and good service which no longer is available at Shore.

i heard they recently won a battle in lincolnwood to open the range as a sports complex. and you said it if you are not a police officer they really dont care to deal with you which is funny, they have low to no inventory anymore (last time i stopped in they had a used rifle for sale) so the police sales are going to drop and the guy told me that they were going to focus more now on classes, which is great but i wouldnt want any of them teaching me anything, i can not see my self paying for the attitude. when i bought my first gun it was a sig, i purchased it from them. being my first gun i really wanted to make sure i got one right for me so i was asking to see a few different ones to compare and the guy copped an attitude and asked if i had an idea which one i wanted because he didnt feel like pulling out every gun they owned. since moving out here no place has been anything like that.

and i do not like to shop big business myself. I would rather spend a few bucks more in local business and get the full experience rather than have some one who hates their job open a case and give me something. i like to shop from experts and enthusiasts, they will never steer you wrong.....intentionally
