Anybody got some bad Range stories.

Worst I've had is being muzzled by a particular student 3-4 times, but I kinda could control that situation.

Worst situations for me have been at the Outdoorsman Sport Shop. This is not to bash the range. I do love the tables behind the line to put all my gear, but every once in while, some bonehead brings his gun to the table to re-load, puts the mag in the gun, then sweeps everybody when heading back to the line.

Happen twice, both times were late Saturday when all the gang banger wantobees where there. Now, I don't go on Saturday afternoons.

sad

Same situations for me same place no more weekends M-F 10:00am to 2:00pm. The Worst was at CCW training last November this guy across the table from me shot a hole in the table. He fail training and was asked to leave.

That is scary! i have "yelled" at other shooters at that range for this. The table idea is great but very unsafe.

Bass Pro, lady next to me was all over the place with her muzzle and shots. She was there with either her husband or an instructor. Just a constant stream of "keep it pointed down range" coming from him. That's when I decided to switch to the electronic ear muffs so I could hear what was going on around me better and always try to get lane 5.

There also the time I was there and the guy next to me was doing his best SWAT impression. As much tactical gear as he could wear and an .22lr AR firing off the hip at a target a whole whopping 15-20 feet away.

Actually, some months ago, Outdoorsman got rid of their tables and put in rolling carts that fit under the table under the individual range slots (better name?), for just that reason. There should be no carrying of firearms outside of one's individual spot, really. Now, if they could just clean up the joint!

No real serious bad range experiences for me, probably due to I don't shoot as much as you fella's do. Sometimes a clown will pop off a mag as fast as he can, and I smirk when he manages to hit home only once.

I've never really had an "un-safe" experience at Bristol.

BassPro, not even on the range, just checking in at the front counter and they dropped my firearm on the counter, almost landed on the floor.

Not cool. Devil

I have had some fun range times. Bristol is horrible for me because of my age. I am now 23 but when i would go a lot I was like 18-20. Ive had range officers hassle me until I showed them my NRA Instructor card that shows that I can teach every class. After that, they normally would leave me alone lol.

I worked a range. Not going to name any names. But there was an old gentlemen that simply could not reload shotgun shells. He would always have rounds without any powder. One time, I was standing next to him pulling targets for him. The first round did not go off and he put his gun down pointing right to my legs while his finger was still on the trigger. Of course, I freaked out and pushed his barrel away. Nothing happened but I had heard a story where he had shot the sidewalk before. I was not taking any chances. I like my legs. Tongue

It could have been worse, it could have been pointed between your legs...

And Mike, if you ever go to Bristol again, look around... There RSO's seem to be concerned with everything but gun safety...

Eric, I recommend you never go there. Why support such an operation. Admittedly I have not been there in well over a year, but why support such such an organization. Try to help them go bankrupt. Go elsewhere. They have a bad reputation, and it is the one they have forged.

I had a similar experience at a range in Mchenry. A couple of guys who either didn't or chose not to speak English (Polish or Russian) were walking back to the table, loading and inserting mags, and racking their slides before walking back to the line with very poor trigger discipline. After getting muzzled twice I said something to them. Enter the language barrier. After the third time, the owner was brought into the situation. They were asked to leave.
