Negligent, negligent, negligent.

"Somehow, the gun was loaded when Gearhart was shot"

Yeah, somehow. Always a good reminder to obey the safety rules.

Just more "ammunition" for the gun grabbers :/

That is really unfortunate. the gun is ALWAYS loaded.
"Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars."

It reminds me of something that came up when discussing safety checking the firearm in the Basic Pistol class. Lots of people rely on a couple slide racks and then think the firearm is clear, but the extractor and ejector are both mechanical decides that are prone to fail at some point or another. Clearing the firearm requires both a visual and physical check of the mag well and chamber, simply racking the slide of your semi-auto does not make the firearm safe.

However, as also discussed in class, following the rules would have prevented this as well. Treating the firearm as always loaded and never pointing the firearm at something the gun handler isn't willing to destroy would have ensured the poor woman never took a round to the leg. Hopefully this negligent salesman gets out of the gun business, his safety standards are clearly lacking...

See you then. The training just gets better as the classes get more advanced.
