I get what you are trying to do, I've been at Bass Pro a number of times where the range is "booked" and I'm the only one there. However, I think this would reduce the number of people who reserve ahead of time or how far ahead they reserve. What would be the requirement for someone like me who has a weekly appointment?

Artical 2 does this. Online they have a calendar with the available times, you pick the time. And the next page you pay. When you show up they check your name to the list and the give you the lane. I like this so there isn't any fuss or mess.

What we haven't talked about is the difference between a club and a membership. OnTarget is not a club. And their membership is purely pre-paid. If you go 26 times you pay nothing more than you would have. But all you get is to reserve, minor discounts on rentals, etc. Not really what I would call a club.
A nice lounge to sit it while waiting for a lane makes no sense if you are reserving. There is no wait.
So you walk into the range there is a line at the checkout counter. As a club member I can walk past that into the club room. There is nice seating, vendor machines, books videos and magazines to read or even rent. There is a checkout counter where I can take a regular lane if I didn't reserve. There is also a view overlooking all the ranges so I can watch if I want. I get 10% off all merchandise, special discounts on occasion. Half-price classes or classes with visiting trainers, i.e. Ayoob, etc. or unique seminars offered only to members. Presentations from industry people when new items come out. Demos on unique related items, tools, and equipment, i.e. body army, self-defense tools, cleaning tools, emergency equipment, etc.
I would join a club like that.

I voted for membership. I agree with the rest, it must have perks that the average guy walking in off the street does not have access to. I like the idea of being able to have some lanes reserved and others for walk ins. The 10% off ammo is always nice too.

Heading out to Arizona later this year and thought I would check out the ranges out there. Came across a range in Scottsdale that has a monthly membership fee of $30 with unlimited free range time, plus free machine gun rental (+ 2 mags) on your birthday. Seems like a good deal to me

Without knowing what a membership would gain me, I can't say.
Even if it's just that members shoot for free or at a discount, it would help. Membership cost would be the deal maker/breaker for me.

Pine Tree Pistol Club allows 24 hr/7 day access. Alpha Range in McHenry has hours from 6am to midnight. Access beyond the normal 10-8 would be a good membership perk.

I'd be a member if the price was reasonable and it would have to include unlimited use of range. GTR is a great range but I could care less about the lounge and guest passes and IMO their membership prices are ridiculous.
Mike, are there any plans on Red Dot opening a range in the future? Indoor or outdoor?
