OK, lemme get this straight...

...they say the drivers can't protect themselves when delivering the pizzas but they will pay a reward if the driver's murderer is caught.

If the driver is using his own car I don't think Domino's can stop them. They can stop him from bringing to the door, and they can stop him from bringing it in the building.

I think it may fall under Domino's insurance and there rules if he is using his own car to deliver Domino's insurance has to cover him and the car it's part of workers compensation.

In my opinion, I think it's worth the risk of losing a potentially dangerous pizza delivery job to have the option to protect my life.

Why risk your life over any job?

Is a pizza delivery job really worth your life? In today's society what type of unknown dangers lurk behind that door you are about to deliver a pizza to. Sorry Dominos, I will pass on your lack of standing behind your employees.

I would prefer not to, but a lot of people take jobs with risk to personal safety or at least involve cash/valuables that others may want to take. I don't want to judge anyone for why they may have taken a certain job. Maybe it was a choice or maybe it was something they just had to do to earn a living.

True. In my job I work with ERP software. A lot of my clients have a lot of money on the line when systems fail, etc. We always are responsive as we can be even on nights and weekends.

However, at the end of the day my boss always says, remember, we aren't curing cancer here.

I like my boss. Smile

I also work with a lot of people using Peoplesoft, SAP, NAV, etc... it's not the same kind of job. We deal with intelligent people (even if they can be dumb as a rock at times). We are almost never walking into the unknown.

If you are licensed to carry, I feel if you are off company property, even on company business, you should be allowed to carry.

Sharz (my wife) is a lawyer, and we had one of those discussions about this where she explains to me how I cannot apply logic, reason, fairness, good judgement, and common sense to the law, at least not if I want to know what the law says, especially in Illinois, Cook County, and Chicago.

If I walk off company property and get in my car and drive to a location to continue company business the company has no right to tell me what I can or cannot do in the privacy of my car IF you apply logic, reason, fairness, good judgement, and common sense. However, the law may allow them to.

Therefore, I may lose my job over it and have no legal recourse BUT I guarantee if my company tried to exercise control over my private actions in my private car by the time I got done with explaining logic, reason, fairness, good judgement, and common sense to them....I will leave the rest to your imagination. Suffice to say I would be pissed, and they would know it.

Yeah, that's the saddest part. Someone is risking their life to deliver bad pizza.

That's why they need to arm themselves. They may get shot for delivering substandard pizza's in Chicago.
