Lisa, People today don't know much about history of mental illness here in the USA. We used to have hundreds of thousands of mental inmates in hospitals (Dunning in Chicago had 12,000 inmates at one time, Bellview in NYC even more). In the 70's George McGovern, a democrat, brought a case all the way to the SCOTUS. HE won. Basically all the inmates in the loony bins had to be released, as they had not committed a crime YET, even though a judge thought them too dangerous to the public. This is the main reason loons are free today. We have to wait for them to commit a horrible crime. Thanks Democrats.
