Bipods... - BelieveIn308 - 09-19-2014

You guys really should carry Grip Pod GPS02 for the AR platforms. This is a great bipod for the AR-15 platforms and is good enough that the USMC uses it. They are not cheap, but they are made in the USA and since you are likely to have a forward grip anyway, why not this?

RE: Bipods... - Ringo3632 - 09-19-2014

I'm putting this on my list for my possible ar build... Looks like a great suggestion. Anybody have any others that they really liked to use?

RE: Bipods... - fromtheplaines - 09-23-2014

I will keep this in mind I had a forward grip. But it kept on getting in they way so I removed it. But it always seemed like a good idea

I have a Harris bipod on mine. As for the forward grip, I usually just use the front of the mag well. It works okay for me.

This is the one I want for my 24" SS Barreled AR: http://www.accu-shot.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=125

That's an expensive piece of hardware... I put a Harris 'S' series on my LR308 set up and like it.

Yeah it is not a cheap one but I have my Wife convinced that it is the one I need for my 24" SS AR. My son wants one also. I was at a Gun store last weekend and they tried to get me to buy one like it but it was a Chinese knock off. I told them I will never set foot back in this store if they try to start selling Chinese knock offs.

hmmm... I used to remember when 'Made in Japan' was considered junk (and it was at that time). Today, I find Chinese/Japanese stuff to be of much higher quality than a lot of 'stuff' made in the USA. The world truly is becoming a Global economy. The USA no longer makes really high quality products. We have been taken over by bean counters, who sacrifice quality for cost.

And I really think for one that Vortex scopes (made in the Phillipines) are on par, quality wise with US made Luepold scopes costing far more.

America no longer is the only country to hold the 'quality' mantra.

For the most part i will agree. You just have to pay attention to what you buy. I love the vottex and i love the lucid units also. The bipod he showed me was truly junk.

Chinese products get a bad rap, sometimes with good reason, but a lot of times when companies send manufacturing overseas they de-engineer the product and let the manufacturer take the blame for their cheap products.

Heck the bean counters HERE in the good old USA de-engineer and cheapen the product. There are still some things America builds better that anyone else. The one thing 'cheapening' a product has taught us is how to make superior products. Now if American industry would just get back to building quality.

De-engineering didn't teach us to build superior products, it taught us that Americans will by cheaper products more often.

I know that these scopes are made overseas but the two I have already bought are excellent and the cost is not outrageous.

The scopes are by Hawke and I already have a 6-24×50 AO MIL DOT IR on my 18" platformed AR. The clarity is excellent and the price was budget fitting. I picked it up from. http://www.eabco.net/

RE: Bipods... - BelieveIn308 - 05-25-2015

A 6-24x50 on an AR15? Isn't that a little bit of scope over kill?

Maybe. That's what I have on my AR. The scope is better than the gun, for sure. See my target porn thread.

If nothing else, it lets me spot targets for other shooters. Smile
