Red dot Sights - Arbitersaid - 09-07-2014

Of the less expensive brands, which is the most worth trying out? I know to avoid NcStar but beyond that not much.

Is there a certain size you're looking for? I'd like to get one to try out for a bit, and preferred with a flashlight as well, but I'll probably wait till I get an fnx-9 or something.. My XDs doesn't have much room for mounting

UTG has stepped up their game lately. give them a look for sure!

Totally just re read this... Wasn't paying enough attention. My bad, my mind went straight to laser when I read red. I have no experience with red dot sights O=]

What is a lesser brand ($$)? You have the Vortex Strike Fire ll and then there is the Lucid HD7 red dot's. I have one of each and they are both very good red dot units. I picked up the lucid at Hamlund Tactical for 158. and the Vortex OPMPD (FDE) from Optics Planet for 170.

Like Bradberry said, it all depends what your definition of less expensive. what is your price range?

I am a fan of Vortex optics. I have seen the Strike Fire II. I think it is a very good optic. I think Vortex scopes are on par with Leupold for quality, they are just made in the Philippines and not in the USA, which many care about. Yes, I think they are less expensive than EOTech's etc, but I think they are exceptional quality for the money.

I'm also looking looking fora less expensive Red Dot. My less expensive is keeping it around $250 with base. So far I've been reading up on a few Burris units. I'm undecided and have a few others to look at including the Vortex. If my budget allowed me to, I'd jump all over an Eotech.

Burris 8

Nice thing about the Vortex Strike Fire ll is that the battery is real easy to get to and you have red and green dot available.
