It's a great topic on gun safes...

Safes are good against most criminals. Proper mounting and positioning can defeat most pry attempts. Thicker steel is required to defeat cutting tools. The best combination is alarm systems with safes. A basement corner is the best place for a safe. With the unhinged door side facing a concrete wall. Better still is if you protect the sides and top of the safe bye pouring 4" of reinforced concrete around the top and exposed side. This leaves the door alone. The toughest part to get through.

But please remember, the best combination is a safe with alarm. One without the other is fool hearty. Have both. Avoid fancy locks. Get the good old fashioned manual locks.
