Custom Walther PP - mm6mm6 - 07-19-2014

I've always liked the Walther PP or PPK pistols in either .32 or .380 ACP. I've got big hands, but they feel great and shoot well for me. Except the slide always gets me if I'm not careful and cuts railroad tracks in the web of my shooting hand. I just don't like getting blood on my gun!

I decided to create a Walther that wouldn't bite me when shooting hard and fast. As long as it would require some custom gunsmithing, I figured I'd make it into the Walther of my dreams.

I purchased this 1972 Walther PP German police trade-in .32 to start with:

I had a Novak low profile rear sight installed and matched it up with a dovetailed gold bead front sight:

Then my gunsmith welded a beavertail grip tang on the rear so I would never be on the receiving end of the infamous Walther bite again.

I had the gun relief engraved by Michael Gouse in the German Acorns & Oak Leaf style. I had the trigger, safety, magazine release, and hammer fire blued and the rest of the pistol was hard chromed (which is the same as what Walther did back in the 1930s).

It shoots great and it doesn't draw any blood anymore!
