Importing Firearms to Canada - sublime - 07-27-2015 08:22 AM

I'd like to order firearms from the states, but it seems a lot harder than it should be, I saw that a big form was required to be filled out and sent off somewhere, I called multiple places about it and nobody really seemed sure, so I was curious if anybody has done this or if anybody knows of anybody who's done this, and if it is really worth it? the guns are definitely less expensive. but would the duty and transport charges make it not worth the buy..?

What would be required if you were a Canadian citizen that visited the States and returned with a firearm. I am ignorant of the laws on the Canadian side of the border. Or what our laws are regarding exports of firearms. Although I am not sure what the laws here are for selling to non-citizens.

Update, I just went online and saw that in order to enter Canada you still need a License to purchase. Also, they really prohibit a lot of firearms. All pistols must have a barrel length greater that 4.1" no exceptions, no AK, FAL's and a host of other weapons. Very restrictive laws. 5 round magazines for rifles, 10 for handguns, maximum. But at least M1 Garands can have 8 round clips. If you can figure out what you need to purchase in the USA, from an FFL (Mike, being from Canada might know).

Welcome Sublime.

Like Believe pointed out, Mike, the owner of Red Dot is from Canada, so I would expect he knows or can find out.

We are currently importing firearms from Canada as we speak. I'd love to do the reverse also.

Can you private message me what firearm you are looking at?

Thank you everybody for the feedback, and i'd like to apologize for the late reply, ive been keeping busy and haven't had a whole lot of time to be on the computer. So I am aware of most of the restrictions are firearm laws, except for the whole importing businesss, but i was hoping to order online, preferably the CZ 75B, they're quite expensive here as opposed to the states, and i haven't bought a handgun yet, i'm pretty new to the hobby but so far i have a .308 savage axis and an Sks, other than the cz i've currently been looking at .22lr rifles such as the marlin model 795, ive heard nothing but good reviews for the rifle, as well as something like a mossberg tac. or a variant, something i can customize as much as i'd like and what not. I am mostly just interested in buying the cz 75b, the other firearms are just secondary interests i will eventually acquire... hopefully, but my main focus is on the CZ. thanks for the replies.

The gun that I mentioned above just got to our shop a few weeks ago. Lots of issues and BS red tap issues.
