Right, because if there were any issues during the customization the only thing lost would be a Glock...

Shots fired! Shots fired! Anybody have ice for the Glock fans?? Lol

Personally I held it and not gone lie it's pretty slick. I have Springfield's and I love them, but I have yet to try a Glock besides like 5 rounds through a rental...

i have never fired a glock but always heard great things about them when i was in service, i always loved my beretta and though that there was no need for anything other than it, but since being home and starting my collection i have been hearing not so good things about glock and someone even told me that the sig i bought was just fine. if you are on this site i assume you know a little something about guns and would like some feed back on glock. i obviously would love to win this it is a beautiful gun nicely customized. what are some thoughts on glock?

Honestly, I think you can't go wrong with any of the major manufacturers with a solid reputation. I have only been shooting a couple years, but I have rented and shot several dozen in my quest. I now have 3 hand guns and they are all Springfield's.

The reason is Springfield's fit my hand best. I once did a three-way compare/rent in one session between the XDM, Glock, and Baretta 92SF. The Baretta had the most solid feel, especially racking the slide (probably a lot to do with being all metal), and was the most accurate for me to point and shoot - not concentrating on site picture. The Gock was the fastest to reacquire a site picture. I really like their sites. But the XDM felt best in my hand and was overall the most natural feel.

thank you for the input, in fact i have never tried a gun by renting it first and something so simple to do had slipped my mind. i will more likely than not try one out before i make my next purchase. ad i agree about the baretta its just sooo ugly!

Yeah, Dutz is right with not really going wrong with them.. any questions just try to look up some torture videos for each gun on youtube. There will be some stupid ones, and some where they'll actually abuse the gun to show they'll take some punishment in case you're in a bad spot. I also went with Springfield for starting my collection. I have two of them now and they're both amazing. They felt better to me.. However, besides in good fun.. I have no real reason to say anything bad about glocks. I would like to get one just so I can do extensive testing back and forth!

yea i never really took elements in to consideration. never thought i would be dragging it through sand or mud but i guess you never get to choose the conditions in which an emergency occurs. On another note something i can take away from this is how many people have been recommending springfield and they have never crossed my mind, i have always heard Sig or Glock and i chose Sig. I am very happy with it my only complaint is that i do not feel like it is very comfortable in my hands. what are some good Springfield options? paddock lake sporting goods is by my house and it is a very good shop but they have a very limited selection on handguns. does Red Dot carry springfield?

Red Dot has a good number of them. I just bought the XDm 3.8" 9mm Compact from them late last year and I love it! The main choices are the XDm, XDs, and they have a new version of their original handgun that they call the Mod.2. I have the XDm and the XDs .45 and I love shooting both of them. it all depends on what your goal is as far as which you go with. But I would highly recommend going in and holding a few of them to see what you think.

I agree, I have the Mod 2 and it is very comfortable in your hand and shoots great. The other one to check out is FNH their 9mm comes in a 4inch barrel and they have a new compact with a 3.5 inch barrel.

I love how a thread about winning a free Glock got highjacked by a conversation on how great Springfield is.

Maybe you're giving away the wrong gun? Don't feel too bad. The "I would never buy thread" has turned into a tutorial about Russian Vepr model AKs. Lol

Nothing wrong with a Glock, except the 2x4 feel, bad sights, and PRICE. If Glocks were $150 less I could become a fan... Even of the (5 shot or was it 6, in all the excitement (yawn) I forgot) Hi-Point Compact better known as the Glock 43...

OUCH! I love and stand by my Glocks. I love my 43 and in noway would ever compare it to a POS Hi-Point. Even if I won a Hi-Point I would sell it or give it away.
