What would you wear if you had to be in sub freezing weather for days on end?

I've tried UnderArmour UA Base level 3, and boy does it keep you warmer. Even stationary at zero for 4 hours. But I am interested in what kind of other cold weather gear people are using for 'bug out' scenarios where a fire is not an option. Especially gear that is waterproof.
I'm interested in this too.. I've been wanting to get an Eno hammock to build into my kit. Bit of shelter, weighs very little and only takes up a little space. But now's the time to stock up on the cold weather stuff! I haven't tried under armor.. but I'm going to this year. last year was the first time that I had anything like that and it was great. I need to grab a couple more.

I like wearing my ICON riding gloves in the winter just to keep the cold off my skin, but was thinking of grabbing some mechanix gloves or something geared a little more to the cold weather. Any suggestions?
Being from Canada, I usually put on a wind breaker Smile
Do you zip that windbreaker up? It get's cold around Chicago. If you had to bug out somewhere and were in the elements for extended periods, gear is important. I'm not sure, the best heavy weather gear. Really good quality wool socks, good boots, Tactical hoods, and good quality gloves. And of course snow/multicam ponchos.
I tend to hibernate...
hmmm... hibernate? Find a cave, eliminate the bear, and eat well all winter?
Sound perfect! Just remember to bring your .25 for that bear... Haha

I think wool socks and good gloves are first on my list for winter gear... I have some good boots and some warm long sleeve like under armor but could use those warmer smaller items
HEAD AND FEET. You will loose most of your body heat out of your head. Frozen feet make a for a long day..
I have one of those tactical hoods from UnderArmor, it really does keep you warm. I am really thinking about feet. No skimping on socks or boots. Like I said I spent a day outside at 5 to -5 this last winter as a test. I was fine moving around, and was not really cold stationary. But I worry if I had to be in the elements for days on end. I have added 3 extra pairs of socks to my bug out bag. And there is a huge difference in staying warm between cheap wool socks and more expensive quality wool socks. I have to do some more research on socks. I've heard there is some with space blanket type insulation in the soles.
That sounds super comfy... Did you find any brands that you have been considering?
