The Illinois permit would void.

Those guys have fun at what they do but they take their training and support to top level. I wish i had them here in Oregon.
Practice, practice and awareness.
listen and follow their lead and you will never go wrong. You will walk a lot taller and feel more secure in uncertain times.

They are real good guys at Red Dot.
My wife keeps asking why I want a conceal carry permit amd situations like these are the exact reason..sorry this happened but at least you and your family made it out unharmed
Also I am a new foid card holder and haven't had the chance to purchase anything yet but know I also want to obtAin a conceal carry permit what kind of preferences do you all have in this area?
ive seen you shoot, i would get a cap gun... lol jk, but i would just go to the store and get a feel for what is more comfortable in your hands, stick to a good brand and get what is right for you.
Yes, Grip and feel, comfort in YOUR hand. Everyone is different. Grips can also be slightly adjusted. We live in a golden age of firearms. Glocks. Springfield, Sig's, FN's, Rugers... so many great firearms today. As always depends what you plan to use it for. For concealed carry, take a good look at Springfield XDs, M&P Shield, Ruger LC9S, SCCY, Glock 42 or 43, just for starters. I am sure the firearms guys at RDA can work with you to find that perfect fit. You can also carry a more full size weapon like a Glock 19, FNS-9...
Try renting also. And remember, smaller find are easier to conceal, but much harder to shoot. And you can't go wrong with a Springfield or a Glock!

Also, taking the first ccw class at red dot would be a good step! They pass around different types of guns and give an introduction to share to look for. So it'll help you pick out something good for you, and get you one step closer to your permit!
Think about where you are going to carry and how you dress during those times. If you wear a dress shirt and dress pants then a full size probably won't work. Even if you wear a suit it may not work because you could never take off your jacket. If you wear jeans and a flannel then it may.

Also, I would add the Sig P938 to BelieveIn308's list. In our CCL 3 class the other night 25% of the class were using it.
